Advisors Asset Management's High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio Surpasses $1 Billion in Assets
Advisors and Investors Expected to Continue Diversifying with Dividend-Investing Strategies as U.S. Equities Projected to Perform Well in 2012
MONUMENT, Colo., April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Advisors Asset Management (AAM), a leading investment solutions provider specializing in investment solutions and support services that financial advisors can leverage to expand their businesses and help meet their clients' needs, announced today that its High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio has exceeded $1 billion in assets.
"The growth of the High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio demonstrates that financial advisors and investors recognize that the strategy can be a key component of a diversified portfolio. The strategy builds a portfolio with a reasonable risk profile and stocks that deliver consistent income in varying market conditions," said Andrew Williams, President of AAM. "Finding solutions such as dividend investing, which can generate consistent long-term income and have the potential for growth, aligns well with the strategies of a wide variety of investors."
The High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio is a Unit Investment Trust (UIT) consisting of a maximum of 50 stocks selected using a proprietary dividend-oriented strategy. AAM chooses the stocks by first analyzing over 7,000 companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and NYSE AMEX Composite Index. Following the application of its investment criteria, the five highest dividend-yielding stocks in the 10 Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) sectors are selected. To minimize risk, the resulting portfolio is weighted approximately 10% per GICS sector and 2% per stock.
This investment approach was formulated to generate income with the potential for capital appreciation, and focuses on diversification, dividend income and long-term discipline. Every High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio UIT matures after 15 months, and existing investors may roll over their assets into a new UIT at a reduced sales charge at maturity.
"Our forecast for U.S. equities remains bullish and we are confident that this will help provide attractive returns for the High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio over both the short- and long-term," said Mike Boyle, Senior Vice President of Asset Management at AAM and creator of the High 50 Dividend Strategy Portfolio. "Driven by solid growth and attractive valuations, U.S. equities have already posted double-digit gains for 2012 but so far the market has been led by the non-dividend payers. As this rally matures, we expect dividend-paying equities to take more of a leadership role as investors look for value and the potential to augment their income needs."

UITs are sold only by prospectus. Investors should consult their financial advisor or other investment professional and carefully consider the trust's investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses before investing. As with any investment, investors may lose money by investing in UITs and the trust may not perform as well as expected. Investing in a UIT is a long-term strategy and investors should consider their ability to invest in successive trusts. Investors also should consult a tax professional regarding the tax implications associated with investing in UITs. There is no assurance that the strategies discussed will be successful in the future.
