PHOENIX, Feb. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Advisor Group, one of the nation's largest networks of independent financial advisory firms, comprised of FSC Securities Corporation, Royal Alliance Associates, SagePoint Financial and Woodbury Financial Services, today announced that its 12th Annual W Forum will take place from February 7-9, 2018 at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, LA.
Launched in 2007 as an integral part of Advisor Group's efforts to promote and celebrate the professional achievements of women in the financial advisory space, the W Forum has grown in scope and size over the years. This year, a record number of attendees – representing all ages and levels of industry experience – will take advantage of the educational, mentorship and networking opportunities the conference provides.
The theme of this year's event, "Focus your Power," will center around empowering women to explore their unique skillsets and grow their practices while making a tangible difference in clients' lives. The W Forum offers attendees an array of engaging panels and educational speaker sessions that explore timely industry topics and business building strategies, while also addressing gender-specific topics such as the longevity crisis many women will face, the opportunity for women to become successors for our aging advisor population, strategies to attract the next generation of advisors, and the need for more women to serve as mentors.
"The professional growth of women is critical to the future of the financial services sector. At Advisor Group, we recognize the need to increase the number of, and accelerate the path to success for, women in this industry," said Valerie Brown, Executive Chairman of Advisor Group. "Our growing mentorship program, our new podcast series, and our upcoming internship program are just some examples of how we are not just talking about supporting women advisors, but building actionable programs that will make a difference."
The W Forum is a key facet of Advisor Group's Women Forward initiative, which provides female advisors with access to myriad opportunities for mentoring, training and networking. This year's event will feature dozens of renowned speakers from the financial services industry and beyond, including keynote and featured speeches from:
- Geena Davis, award-winning actress, producer, and founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media
- Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide
- Valerie Brown, Executive Chairman of Advisor Group
- Jamie Price, President and CEO of Advisor Group
Commensurate with Advisor Group's commitment to promoting women's professional development, the firm has also partnered with nonprofit organization Dress for Success to create a philanthropic opportunity. Conference attendees are encouraged to donate clothing to the charity, which provides low-income women with professional attire for job interviews. Dress for Success also works with clients to help them develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve success in the business world, and ultimately break the cycle of poverty.
