Adventures Never End as Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to Operate Year Round in 2014 -- Its Wildest Season Yet
New Water Attraction Coming in 2014
VALLEJO, Calif., Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In a bold move and for the first time in 16 years, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom today announced that guests can now enjoy their favorite rides and attractions more often as the park expands its operating calendar year round in 2014, including holidays and weekends in both January and February. Already home to the best entertainment in Northern California, Discovery Kingdom will also add an exhilarating new wet and wild family water attraction that is slated to open in the Spring.
"With the region's mild temperatures, being open all year means guests have even more opportunity to enjoy Discovery Kingdom's wildlife and wilder rides," said Don McCoy, park president. "In addition to our summer daily operating schedule, we will now be open on weekends year-round ― further cementing Six Flags Discovery Kingdom as the premier destination for affordable, thrilling entertainment."
The park has traditionally closed in early January following its Holiday in the Park® celebration and would re-open prior to Spring Break.
The park also announced today the 2014 opening of the new Tsunami Soaker ― an interactive family water ride that arms passengers with giant water pistols as they engage in a water battle, leaving everyone, including bystanders, soaking wet. This circular attraction is comprised of nine boats that hold up to six passengers and is sure to be a favorite for guests of all ages.
"This is a great addition to our family attraction line-up," said McCoy. "We love the interactivity this ride creates for both the riders and onlookers, getting everyone involved in the fun."
Additionally, fans of the popular Cirque Dreams Splashtastic — the Most Amazing Show Above H2O — can look forward to Year Two of the aquatic theatrical production when it returns for a limited engagement for the 2014 summer season. Featuring the park's popular marine mammals and an internationally renowned company of acrobats and aerialists, the acts amaze in the air, over the water and throughout the Dolphin Harbor Theater.
In addition, it was announced today that 2014 Season Passes and Annual Memberships are now on sale at the lowest prices of the year and provide unlimited visits for the rest of the 2013 season (including Fright Fest® and Holiday in the Park®) and all of the 2014 season.
For a limited time, with the purchase of a Season Pass or Annual Membership four-pack, guests will receive a free upgrade to a Gold Season Pass which includes free admission and free season parking to any Six Flags Theme Park with every pass. Annual Membership Passes, which include all of the great benefits of Season Passes, are also available at an affordable monthly price. Offer expires October 27, 2013.
This fall, Discovery Kingdom is preparing to launch the park's biggest and scariest Fright Fest® ever featuring "Thrills by Day" and "Fright by Night." The family-friendly daylight hours will be filled with thrilling rides and fun-filled shows, but as the sun sets the park transforms to the dark side with new haunted attractions, such as the all-new Total Darkness maze, and more zombies than ever before. Some haunted attractions require an additional fee.
