Award-winning Colorado author C.S. Shride awakens the natural leader in teen girls
LAKEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning author Suzie Shride has spent nearly half a century preparing for her next adventure - the Lucy Dakota Girls Leadership Weekend at Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, February 15-18, 2013. From her grandfather's promptings to "be a leader, not a follower," her days as a Colorado Outward Bound School instructor and the years she spent leading adventurers through Nepal & South America, to her tenure as a classroom teacher and as a multi-award-winning Young Adult fiction author, Shride has been an avid student of leadership all her life. The intention for the Lucy Dakota Leadership Weekend is to provide a transformational experience to awaken young women to their own strength, power and potentiality and to introduce them to life skills and ways of thinking & being that will propel them forward into the lives they dream of and help them become the leaders of our next generation.
Bio:
Co-founder and current board member for Southwind Adventures, Inc. in Littleton, Ms. Shride is an outdoor educator with a MA in education whose passion is sharing her love of the outdoors, travel, native cultures, leadership and nature with others. Her journeys have taken her six of the seven continents. She has climbed to the Everest Base camp, on Kangchungtse and in Nepal's Jaljale Himal, tracked lions and wildebeest in East Africa, dived Australia's Great Barrier Reef, explored remote regions of the Amazon, hiked dozens of Andean trails, para glided off mountains in Alaska and photographed wildlife in the Galapagos. Teen daughter Reyna accompanies her frequently on trips and inspires her writings and workshops. A multi-award-winning author, Shride shares tales of her adventures around the world through the Lucy Dakota: Adventures of a Modern Explorer series and teaches teens the leadership skills she has learned over nearly half a century of adventure.
