The award honors individuals in the medical ultrasound community whose contributions deserve special praise.

She accepted the distinguished award on March 26, 2017 at the AIUM National Conference in Orlando, FL.
This award recognizes and celebrates a current or retired AIUM member whose body of work has significantly contributed to the growth and development of medical ultrasound. Each year, the membership committee nominates an individual for recognition, who then goes through a final approval process with the AIUM Board.
Charlotte's long list of accomplishments and credentials as well as her service to AIUM, where she serves as the Board's 2nd Vice President, makes her more than deserving of this distinction. She's been a credentialed sonographer for over 30 years, and has worked as an educator for 26 years. She also served on the Board for the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) for 10 years, including serving as President.

She is also an accreditation site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS). She chaired a three-year collaborative task force hosted by the SDMS that developed the first national educational curriculum for Sonography.
Aside from role as ADU's Department Chair of Sonography, she is the Director of the Center for Advanced Ultrasound Education (CAUE), and as of May 1st will transition from her position as Chair to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Development in Teaching & Learning. As part of her role in creating and overseeing the CAUE, Charlotte teaches advanced education for sonographers, and provides education for graduate and residency programs.
