Adventist Health Appoints New Leadership In The Northwest

PORTLAND, Ore., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Joyce Newmyer has assumed her role as president of the Northwest Region of Adventist Health and CEO of Adventist Medical Center (AMC) in Portland, Ore.  In addition to her responsibilities in Portland, she will chair the governing boards of Walla Walla General Hospital, Walla Walla, Wash., and Tillamook Regional Medical Center, Tillamook, Ore.  Newmyer will also oversee the operations of 43 medical clinics, two home care agencies and two retirement centers in the Northwest.

Newmyer most recently served as president at Washington Adventist Hospital, a not-for-profit, 252-bed acute care facility located in Takoma Park, Md.  Under Newmyer's leadership, the hospital received numerous national and state awards for patient care.

Newmyer holds a master's degree in health services administration from St. Francis University in Joliet, Ill. and a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Fresno, Calif.  Newmyer and her husband G.J. have four adult children and two grandchildren. 

Newmyer replaces Tom Russell who now serves as corporate vice president of population health innovations for Adventist Health's 19 hospitals.
