Advanced Voice Recognition Systems, Inc. Updates Interference and Corporate Overview.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Voice Recognition Systems, Inc. ("AVRS") (OTCBB: AVOI) is pleased to provide an update on the status of the Interference in the Board of Patents Appeals and Interferences ("BPAI") and a general corporate overview.
Mitchell v. Holt Interference 105,746
The Interference was declared on March 9, 2010. The proceedings culminated with oral arguments before a panel of three judges in the BPAI on January 13, 2011. AVRS has not received any communications or decisions from the panel. Corporate counsel for the Interference proceedings indicates that the BPAI seldom communicates until the decision is delivered. We regret the delays, and we are hopeful that a decision will be delivered in the near future.
Patented Technology Update
In the last 6-12 months mobile automatic speech recognition (ASR) has made significant gains in both recognition accuracy and the complexity of applications that can be delivered on a mobile device. This is evident with the introduction of new smart phones. The Board and Management believe that this shift in the speech recognition market could yield significant opportunities to monetize our patent portfolio. As a result, we have conducted internal evaluations comparing our technology to those products we believe may be utilizing our patented technology without the benefit of a licensing agreement. We also have engaged a patent attorney to review our findings. Concurrently, we are in communication with intellectual property firms that specialize in technology commercialization to determine possible alternative courses of action.
AVRS continues to be engaged in the development of interface and application solutions for speech recognition technology. We believe that our previously reported Continuation In Part patent application (13/115,105) filed on May 24, 2011 in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) enhances AVRS's mobile technology position introducing major new technologies for enhanced recognition, particularly on mobile devices.
