Advanced Voice Recognition Systems, Inc. Provides Update Regarding Status of Interference And Receives Fourth US Patent
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Voice Recognition Systems, Inc. ("AVRS") (OTCBB: AVOI) provides a status update on the interference proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (the Board) and notes the receipt of its fourth patent for its speech recognition and transcription technology from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Interference Proceedings
Lead Administrative Patent Judge Tierney issued an order on March 23, 2012 stating that the motions made by the parties were under review by the panel of the Board and that a decision was expected by the end of April. Absent an earlier decision on the motions, Judge Tierney noted the Board's suggestion that the parties arrange a conference call near the end of April so as to provide an update on the status of the case.
President and CEO of AVRS, Walter Geldenhuys, stated, "We knew that the interference was a complex case. The fact that many of the claims in the interference are also in the Allvoice v. Microsoft litigation added another dimension. However, we did not expect this to go beyond the two year mark. We are pleased that Judge Tierney's order confirms that a decision should be forthcoming. I want to personally thank all of our shareholders for their patience and their continued support and confidence in AVRS."
AVRS Fourth US Patent No. 8,131,557
On March 6, 2012 the USPTO issued AVRS's fourth patent for digital voice recognition and transcription technology entitled "Speech Recognition and Transcription Among Users Having Heterogeneous Protocols". The patent is an expansion of the coverage of AVRS's second and third patents and incorporates speech recognition and transcription among transcription engines employing incompatible protocols for generating, transcribing, and exchanging speech among users employing incompatible protocols utilizing peer-to-peer networks, node-to-node networks, and the cloud.
