Advanced Technology Services, Inc. Named Winner of National Safety Council's 2023 Robert W. Campbell Award
Esteemed award recognizes world-class environment, health, and safety management.
PEORIA, Ill., Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Technology Services (ATS) is proud to announce it has been awarded the prestigious Robert W. Campbell Award by the National Safety Council (NSC), America's leading nonprofit safety advocate. ATS is one of only 19 organizations including Boeing, Johnson & Johnson, Dow, DuPont, USG and Honeywell to be recognized by the NSC with this recognition over the last two decades.
The Campbell Award, named for the safety pioneer and first president of the NSC, recognizes companies that have attained business excellence through the integration of environment, health, and safety management as a key business function. As a leading industrial services provider, ATS's top priority is keeping its nearly 3,000 employees safe, including over 1,600 maintenance technicians on-site at customer manufacturing plants across the globe.
To better manage the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) challenges inherent in manufacturing, ATS has an established, top-down cultural commitment to safety excellence. With nearly four decades of experience servicing industrial environments, ATS has a proven track record of maintaining a 50% lower recordable incident rate than the industry average. In 2022, 76% of ATS sites had zero recordable incidents, with the majority going several consecutive years without a single recordable.
The culture focuses on a Beyond Zero safety philosophy, where all employees are encouraged and empowered to "live safety" and continually improve their personal well-being, both inside and outside of the workplace. The holistic approach to well-being includes physical, social, financial, and emotional, all of which are interconnected.
"We are tremendously honored to win this elite award because safety is at our core. No one wants to work for an unsafe company, and no one wants to hire an unsafe company. We realized that a long time ago and put in systems, processes, and functions to protect every one of us," said Jeff Owens, CEO of Advanced Technology Services.
"Our continuous improvement of safety excellence fosters a culture and mindset of Living Safety 24/7, and this effort is reflected in our industry-leading OSHA incident rate," added Owens.
ATS has been a long-standing member of the NSC and leverages training and research data resources to help improve the safety of its workforce. Additionally, Owens was named one of the Council's 2021 CEOs Who "Get It" for going above and beyond in risk reduction, performance measurement, safety management solutions, and employee engagement.
