AdvaMed Launches MVP Mentoring Portal for Veterans
MedicalTechnologyVeterans.org links job-seeking veterans to mentors and company recruiters in medtech
WASHINGTON, Nov. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) today launched MedicalTechnologyVeterans.org, a web portal that links job-seeking veterans to mentors and recruiters in the medical technology industry. The website is an extension of the Medical Technology Veterans Program (MVP), which kicked off in Boston at AdvaMed 2012: The MedTech Conference.
"After the successful MVP Boot Camp in October, we are excited to launch the MVP portal to the wider veteran community as the centerpiece of our veterans program," said AdvaMed President and CEO Stephen J. Ubl. "The website will be a virtual meeting place where veterans can learn more about the medical technology industry and make valuable connections."
MedicalTechnologyVeterans.org will be the home for veterans interested in the medtech industry. It will offer users the ability to create a profile and access a collection of learning opportunities and discussion forums, job openings, mentoring and additional resources. The portal will be open to any U.S. veteran looking for medical technology jobs and careers, industry professionals who are volunteering as mentors, company recruiters and other veteran organizations and groups.
"We are proud of our industry's passion and commitment in working together to assist and support service members as they make the transition from the military to the civilian work force," said Abiomed Chairman, President and CEO Michael R. Minogue, a West Point graduate who helped establish the MVP. "We believe the medical technology industry is a natural fit for veterans, who are dedicated to a mission of service."
The portal was first made available to this year's 25 MVP Heroes and their mentors. It is supported by sponsors of the program, including medical technology companies, law firms and other organizations.
AdvaMed member companies produce the medical devices, diagnostic products and health information systems that are transforming health care through earlier disease detection, less invasive procedures and more effective treatments. AdvaMed members range from the largest to the smallest medical technology innovators and companies. For more information, visit www.advamed.org.
