ADP Helps Businesses Manage ACA Compliance and Avoid Penalties
Affordable Care Act Dashboard Addresses Evolving Requirements, Ideal for Small and Midsized Businesses
ROSELAND, N.J., Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, today announced further enhancements to its TotalSource® solution to help small and midsized businesses manage compliance and avoid penalties associated with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Since TotalSource's initial release of the dashboard in February 2013, ADP has continued to refine and enhance the solution as additional ACA information and guidance has become available.

"Our clients are eager to understand and comply with the Affordable Care Act and all regulations that govern them," said Dave Imbrogno, senior vice president of service and operations at ADP TotalSource. "As a professional employer organization (PEO), TotalSource is uniquely positioned to help businesses because we manage the human resource and benefits administration of our clients, enabling us to offer innovative analytics tools to help them make smarter workforce planning and compliance decisions."
"With the changes in the healthcare environment, I needed to have somebody who was more aware of what was going on than I did," said John Roeser of Chicago-based Roeser's Bakery, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. Roeser, an ADP TotalSource client, added: "I do my better work right here in the shop. That's how we make our money. I don't need to be a 401(k) administrator, and I don't need to be a healthcare administrator with TotalSource."
The recently enhanced ACA dashboard is centered on three pillars that make it possible for clients to proactively stay compliant with ACA mandates in real time:
- Applicability: TotalSource allows employers to determine if the compliance requirements for ACA shared responsibility impacts them by assessing their workforce. The Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) Calculator portrays the annual number of full-time and full-time equivalent employees, including an assessment of hours credited—helping employers understand if they are an "applicable large employer" (ALE).
- Eligibility: The updated dashboard allows employers to proactively track and manage their workforce and provides individual views of employees' ACA benefits status and hours credited to determine full-time status. It also provides visual alerts that let employers know when they may be subject to penalties (and the potential cost of the total penalty) for non-compliance.
- Affordability: The updated dashboard enables employers to assess affordability of coverage through historical data (Box 1 of W-2 earnings), or forecast affordability based on rate of pay to ensure the premium does not exceed 9.5 percent of the employee's taxable income.
ADP TotalSource is the nation's largest PEO, operating more than 50 offices in 28 states and in the District of Columbia, with approximately 300,000 worksite employees in all 50 states. Businesses taking advantage of ADP TotalSource's PEO services are assigned an experienced TotalSource Human Resource Business Partner who leads a team of experts drawn from human resource management, employee benefits, payroll services, risk management and regulatory compliance.
