Admission of Possible Fraud Plagues Houston Votes, Liberty Institute Asks Why They Kept Silent on Alleged Findings of Fraud
HOUSTON, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Liberty Institute, which represents King Street Patriots and its True the Vote initiative, spoke out on allegations of voter fraud against Houston Votes, a project of Texans Together.
The project director of Houston Votes – the very group whose accuracy in voter registration has been called into question – acknowledged on Tuesday that at least dozens of their employees were terminated for turning in alleged fraudulent voter registration applications.
"Supposedly finding fraud and inaccurate registrations in their ranks, why didn't Houston Votes leadership alert Harris County officials?" said Kelly Shackelford, president/CEO, of Liberty Institute. "They even admit to firing up to 30 employees, deputy voter registrars, for fraud and improper registrations, yet never notified the County. Now, they hope to change the subject. It won't work."
In their research, King Street Patriots, a group of citizen-volunteers, uncovered numerous voter registrations that were incomplete, inaccurate or false, which they turned over to county officials. Additionally, the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector declared on Tuesday that Houston Votes has turned in over 25,000 voter registration applications, but only 7,193 appear to be valid new voters, giving the group an high failure rate, compared to an accuracy rate of 99 percent by a leading voter registration group.
