ADEPT Driver's driver safety programs are based upon extensive epidemiological studies, behavioral research and clinical trials and are proven to help drivers avoid the main causes of crashes.
- Watch a California teen driver use teenSMART and his parent describe how teenSMART improved his son's driving skills and reduced auto insurance costs. (total run time 2:32)
- Watch a retired couple use Lifelong Driver to tune up their driving skills and extend their independence. (total run time 3:09)
teenSMART is a computer-based, crash avoidance program for teen drivers. It addresses the six areas research shows lead to the largest number of teen crashes: visual search, hazard detection, speed adjustment, space management, risk perception and lifestyle issues. teenSMART gives teens and their parents tools to help them develop safe driving skills.
Because of teenSMART's proven effectiveness at reducing crashes, the National Safety Council awarded it the 2012 Teen Driving Safety Leadership Award, and a number of leading insurance companies offer significant auto insurance discounts for teens that complete teenSMART. Similarly, Lifelong Driver was developed to specifically address the major causes of mature driver collisions so older drivers can remain safely in the driver's seat longer, and maintain their independence.
GHSA's 2013 Annual Meeting will focus on how technology presents both challenges and opportunities for the highway safety community. GHSA represents the state highway safety offices that implement programs to address behavioral highway safety issues, including: occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding. GHSA provides leadership and advocacy for the states and territories to improve traffic safety, influence national policy, enhance program management and promote best practices.
