Addressing the Health and Housing Needs of Minnesota's Growing Senior Population
Former Members of Congress Byron Dorgan, Martin Sabo, Vin Weber to Headline Issues Forum at University of Minnesota
WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Research shows that Minnesota's older adult population (those 65 years of age and older) will more than double between 2010 and 2030. And 70 percent of those seniors will eventually require help with basic activities like bathing, dressing, eating, walking and managing medication while living in their own homes. Unfortunately, there is little collaboration across the health and housing fields to address these critical needs in an efficient and cost effective manner.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, local and national experts will discuss this major public policy challenge at a forum hosted by the Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship and Bipartisan Policy Center at the University of Minnesota's Crowles Auditorium from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT. Participants will provide ideas for integrating housing and health care, controlling costs, improving quality, expanding the supply of housing with services to seniors, and addressing the Federal budget--issues being discussed on the presidential campaign.
