WASHINGTON, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Six additional video clips from world renowned Tenor Anthony Kearns' solo performance on December 17, 2009 at the prestigious Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C. are now available on YouTube.
"These songs allow me to showcase some of the wonderful music from Ireland -- from 'Danny Boy' to 'My Lagan Love' -- as well as classics from around the world. I was pleased to participate in an event which brought people together to enjoy the Irish holiday spirit for a good cause," said Kearns.
The new YouTube videos feature highlights from Kearns' performance at a "Celebration of Irish Spirits" bipartisan reception at the Capitol Hill Club's Eisenhower Lounge, according to event organizer and publicist Kirsten Fedewa.
Kearns sings the following songs in the new YouTube videos:
- "Funiculi, Funicula" - composed to commemorate the first inclined railway (funicular railway) on Mount Vesuvius. (Turco/Luigi Denza, 1880)
- "La Mattinata" - an operatic aria.
- "Granada" - composed by one of Mexico's greatest songwriters, Agustin Lara.
- "My Lagan Love" - a beautiful love song from Northern Ireland.
- "Kitty Me Love" - a classical Irish ditty.
- "Because" - a love song made famous by Perry Como in 1948. (Teschemacher /Guy D'Hardelot, 1902)
Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, possesses perhaps the largest Irish vocal inventory of any performing artist. He incorporates a stunning repertoire of classical music into his solo performances.
Kearns' upcoming engagements include "Romeo and Juliet: Then and Now" (Opera Naples, Feb. 2010) and "Carmen" (Glasthule Opera Company, June 2010).
Kearns has performed in several Irish productions, leading to roles as "Macduff" in Verdi's "Macbeth" and "Alfredo" in Verdi's "LaTraviata." Kearns was lead tenor in "The Irish Ring," a production encompassing three Irish operas. He also performed as "Fenton" in an Italian production of Verdi's "Falstaff" in Tuscany.
Kearns has performed in many prestigious venues in America, among them: Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Boston's Fleet Pavilion, The Hollywood Bowl, the U.S. Capitol's Fourth of July celebration, and the funeral of President Ronald Reagan.
