HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., May 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Adam & Eve and adameve.com, America's most trusted source for adult products, is curious about all things sexual. This month, they are back with new results from their annual sex survey, where they asked over 1,000 adults if their condoms had ever broken or come off during sex – and the responses may surprise you.
While over half of the adults polled (59%) said that they had never lost or broken a condom during sexual activity, 41% of those surveyed said they had.
Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist at Adam & Eve, finds this number alarming. "Condoms are 98% effective when used correctly and consistently," says Skyler. "Most condom breakage or loss are due to human error, such as poor handling, or using an expired or ill-fitting condom. I encourage adults to sample different sizes, styles and reputable brands of condoms to find one that works for them."
"When a condom breaks or comes off during sex, it can be very upsetting for couples," continues Skyler. "For couples who are using condoms for birth control, morning after pills may be an option to prevent pregnancy in this situation. Depending on the situation, I would also recommend visiting a doctor to test for STIs as well."
"Adam & Eve supports safe sex practices," says Chad Davis, Director of Marketing for Adam & Eve. "We started as a condoms-by-mail company in 1971, and we continue to provide condoms in an array of sizes, materials and designs."
The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
