Adam O'Conor Named Chief Executive Officer Ogilvy Group Hong Kong
HONG KONG, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy & Mather announced today the promotion of Adam O'Conor to the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer of the Ogilvy Group in Hong Kong, effective immediately. Adam was previously Ogilvy & Mather Advertising's Managing Director in Hong Kong, a post he held for three years.
Reporting to Paul Heath, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific, Adam will take over the day-to-day operations of the Hong Kong agency working closely with Paul. Commenting on the promotion, Paul said: "Adam's skill set and depth of knowledge working across disciplines is multidimensional. He has a proven track record when it comes to new business and has demonstrated strong leadership during difficult times. I'm confident his mix of experience will help the team continue to grow our strength across all disciplines and ensure the group plays a pivotal role as one of our major hub markets in Asia."
Last year Adam led the agency to the significant win and launch of the Shangri-la campaign -- the agencies flagship account for the Group and one of Asia's leading luxury and global brands.
Commenting on his appointment, Adam added: "I'm delighted to be taking on the challenge at this time in Ogilvy Hong Kong's evolution. We have a great management team and some real momentum. Last year the market was chaotic and challenging but we won our way through it. We won big Clients and maintained key relationships. This year we have our mojo back and are enjoying the relationships we have with our Clients. The next 12 months will be all about delivering demonstrable business value to our Clients as we pursue excellence in the 'twin peaks' of creativity and effectiveness."
Ogilvy Hong Kong has enjoyed a strong reputation as the leading agency group in market. Recently named "Agency of the Year" at Marketing's Awards, collecting 11 Gold accolades and two Silver metals. 2010 marks the fourth consecutive year Ogilvy Hong Kong has been named Agency of the Year at the Marketing Awards.
Adam's career began as a graduate trainee at Ogilvy & Mather in London, working across the Jaguar and Disney portfolios before moving to CDP where Adam handled the Honda business working with Johnny Hornby. Adam returned to Ogilvy two years later to run the Lotus relationship across Europe before moving to Sydney, Australia where he was based, with his family, for five years. During this time Adam traveled extensively across Asia managing the IBM business. In 2006, Adam moved to Hong Kong and took on the role of Managing Director in 2007, where he was tasked with introducing large domestic and international clients to the existing portfolio.
