Acuo Technologies Announces Contract for Vendor Neutral Archive With Medical Imaging Consultants
Deployment of Acuo's DICOM Services Grid(TM) enables secure archiving and Radiologist access to imaging from all MIC institutions.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Acuo Technologies, developers of the market leading high-performance software for intelligent medical image management, data migration tools and services, today announced contracting with Medical Imaging Consultants (MIC) of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for a new Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), enabling a foundation for image sharing across the MIC network of clinics and affiliates.
The integrated archiving solution is based on the Acuo Technologies DICOM Services Grid™ software. The Acuo VNA archives medical images from multiple sources across the Edmonton region, enabling cross application interoperability, improving access to critical medical imaging, and increasing system reliability, which results in lower total cost of ownership, quicker response time, and improved patient care.
Acuo Technologies' integrated medical imaging solution, the DICOM Services Grid, allows MIC to gain control of more than 40 terabytes of existing medical imaging data, as well as providing a flexible image management layer managing all future DICOM medical imaging content. The Acuo solution provides MIC a standards-based automated system with robust business continuity and eliminates the expense of multiple proprietary systems and storage platforms.
"We are extremely pleased to begin this relationship with one of the premier Radiology Networks in Canada," said Jeff Timbrook, CEO of Acuo Technologies. "We are looking forward to building on this relationship through ongoing collaboration with Medical Imaging Consultants. By leveraging the knowledge of the MIC team, we will expand our dedication to continuous improvement to the industry leading image management, archiving, and data migration capabilities that are extensible and collaborative."
The solution selected by MIC will ensure that all patient studies are safely stored, and can be accessed from any MIC location in a consistent and reliable fashion. This standards based approach will enable MIC to grow the utilization of the Acuo archive without expensive and complex integrations to existing and future PACS.
"We've been searching for a solution that can resolve the proprietary nature of PACS data, yet also meets our scalability and flexible workflow requirements," added Jeff Vandersteen, MIC's Director of IT. "Acuo has proven they can provide the key to achieving our archiving strategy while also lowering our total cost of ownership. We are also looking at this solution to give us the ability to easily integrate into any PACS system to support our teleradiology offering."
