ActualMeds wins HIMSS14 Venture+ Forum
CareSync voted HIMSS14 Startup Showcase winner
WASHINGTON, March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Winners of the Venture+ Forum and Startup Showcase, two unique events for emerging, innovative companies at the HIMSS14 annual conference, have been announced. The Venture+ Forum, a pitch contest featuring early stage healthcare IT companies, named ActualMeds, a provider of web-based and mobile solutions to enable team-based medication management and reconciliation for high risk patients at the point of care, the winner. At the conference's first-ever Startup Showcase on the show floor at HIMSS14, CareSync beat out more than 40 other featured companies to win favorite startup.
At HIMSS14, the Venture+ Forum gathered entrepreneurs, investors, technology influencers and healthcare industry leaders to network and hear live presentations from an impressive lineup of startup companies focused on improving healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and consumer engagement. The pre-conference event offered valuable insights to trends in health IT innovation, and fostered strategic partnerships and investment opportunities crucial to bringing products to market.
"We are thrilled the Venture+ Forum has provided us the opportunity to network and connect with members of the HIMSS community over the coming year," said Patricia Meisner, CEO, ActualMeds. "It is an honor to be recognized by HIMSS as an innovative and cutting-edge company within the highly competitive healthcare IT market."
As winner of the 2014 Venture+ Forum, ActualMeds was awarded a full access package for the 2014 mHealth Summit, taking place December 7-11, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The package includes registration and VIP passes for the Summit and Venture+ Forum, as well as a complimentary kiosk within the Innovation Zone on the exhibit floor and a presentation opportunity on the Innovation Zone stage. In addition, ActualMeds receives complimentary HIMSS15 registration and kiosk within the Startup Showcase, as well as a media release and company feature in a HIMSS Media publication.
At the HIMSS14 Startup Showcase, attendees voted CareSync, a family health record solution combining web and mobile applications with medical records retrieval and transcription service, as the favorite startup. CareSync was featured alongside 44 companies on the main exhibition hall floor at the conference, where the innovative startups had the opportunity to interact with attendees, provide product demos and network with investors and fellow entrepreneurs.
"The Venture+ Forum and Startup Showcase aim to bring the newest, most promising healthcare companies to the forefront at the HIMSS annual conference, as well as at the mHealth Summit," said Rich Scarfo, Vice President, Events at the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA) and Director of the mHealth Summit.
