Actor Sean Patrick Flanery Explores First Love and Heartbreak in Debut Novel, JANE TWO
NEW YORK, April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Accomplished actor and director Sean Patrick Flanery is launching his first novel, JANE TWO, with Center Street, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. While best known for his roles in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Dexter, and The Boondock Saints, Flanery is perhaps most proud of JANE TWO, releasing wherever books are sold on April 5.
JANE TWO grapples with 'firsts'—in particular, first love: "I think love is life's most potent narcotic. And our first exposure to it is rarely handled correctly. But it does offer a taste of something that we'll chase, usually unsuccessfully, for the rest of our lives," said Flanery.
Flanery's foray into the literary world exposes a vulnerability that will be new to many fans: "It feels like you're 300 feet tall, completely naked, standing in Times Square, and everyone's standing there with mouths agape, pointing at you. It's all out there," said Flanery.
Flanery's childhood in Texas inspired a canvas for big, colorful characters in the book, which offers extraordinary portholes into the complexity of relationships, both romantic and familial. Granddaddy Charlie is one such character, serving up the heirloom recipe for life, love, and manhood—inspired by Sean's real-life Granddaddy. "Everything he ever said to me just sort of punched me in the chest. And it even shook those nearby who were out of earshot," said Flanery.
Fans will get more of Flanery in new films releasing this fall (Trafficked with Ashley Judd and Howlers with Chad Michael Collins). Flanery also confirms that Sony has greenlit a Boondock Saints 3 project with his best friend, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus ("a cat for whom success hasn't changed one bit").
In between book signings, fans can find Flanery competing in the 42nd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 16. Flanery won in 1997 & 1998 and is ecstatic to be back on the racetrack to benefit "Racing For Kids," a charitable organization supporting children's hospitals throughout the United States.
Sean Patrick Flanery has appeared in more than 100 movies and television shows. He lives in Los Angeles with his family, where he works in the entertainment industry and owns a martial arts academy. Visit JaneTwo.com for his book tour schedule.
