LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- (2015 International CES) - Actiontec Electronics today announced the launch of new 802.11ac wireless network extenders that will help provide faster Wi-Fi speeds for high bandwidth applications like HD video streaming and gaming. In addition to offering video prioritization and QoS capabilities, the WxB6x00Q network extenders are the industry's first 802.11ac network extenders to support Dual Band 2.4/5GHz with 4x4 AC for stronger, faster performance.
With theoretical wireless speeds up to 2 Gbps, the WxB6x00Q network extenders offer a cost-effective way to add next generation AC speeds to the home network while extending the Wi-Fi signal to hard-to-reach corners of the home, such as basements, garages and second floors. This enables users to enjoy seamless HD video streaming and lag-free gaming in more places throughout the home.
The WxB6x00Q family offers significant performance and design upgrades compared with current generation Wi-Fi extenders. With support for 4x4 802.11ac, the WxB6x00Q offers four streams of data for better performance, while Multi-User MIMO delivers the best possible performance when simultaneously streaming and gaming on multiple devices. In addition, Actiontec revamped the antenna design in the WxB6x00Q family, by uniquely optimizing antenna placement on three dimensions instead of just two.
According to tests performed by Allion USA, the WCB6200Q outperformed its competitor on the 5GHz band (client receive direction) by up to 2x the throughput at far locations within the 3000 sq ft test house. As a result, the WxB6x00Q is the preferred solution for extending wireless coverage to an upstairs or downstairs floor.
"We have been working with some of our major carrier customers to deliver a better Wi-Fi extender that is capable of bringing robust HD video and next generation wireless 802.11ac speeds to more corners of the home. We are very excited about the release of the WxB6x00Q family, as its speed and throughput test results are the best in the industry," said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics.
"The WxB6x00Q will play an important role as the industry moves more and more toward over-the-top content and the home wireless network needs to support multiple HD streams to televisions, tablets, gaming consoles, smartphones, and other devices," he added.
