ACLJ: Rep. King's Hearing Provided 'Vital Service' By Highlighting 'Dangerous Pattern' of Homegrown Terrorism
WASHINGTON, March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) said today the hearing before the House Committee on Homeland Security on the radicalization of American Muslims properly focused on a dangerous pattern of terrorists who are radicalizing Muslims in this country for one purpose - to threaten our national security.
"It's clear the hearing provided a vital service in the ongoing war against terrorism by shining a spotlight on this emerging threat and focusing on the dangerous pattern of terrorists radicalizing American Muslims," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. "The hearing provided a fair forum to engage this critical issue and it's our hope that this hearing marks the beginning of a concerted effort to root out homegrown terrorism where radicalized Muslims view our nation as the enemy and target Americans on U.S. soil. This is not about discrimination - it's about a desire and dedication to defend our homeland against radicalized Muslims."
The ACLJ has produced an analysis concerning the issue of radicalizing American Muslims. It is posted here. At the same time, the ACLJ has heard from nearly 15,000 Americans in the past few days who supported the Congressional hearing.
Led by Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, the American Center for Law and Justice focuses on constitutional law and is based in Washington, D.C. The ACLJ is online at www.aclj.org.
