Aclara Demonstrates Operational Data Management At DistribuTECH 2014

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Aclara Technologies LLC will demonstrate the iiDEAS™ Operational Data Management Solution at DistribuTECH 2014, January 28-30. The iiDEAS solution streamlines utility business processes in operations, customer support, and meter data management.  It combines and unifies data from multiple data sources, including advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems, legacy advanced meter reading (AMR) and manual read systems, as well as back-office systems including those for CIS/billing, GIS , and asset management.  Aclara is a leading provider of intelligent infrastructure technologies for water, gas, and electric utilities and is part of the Utility Solutions Group of ESCO Technologies Inc. The iiDEAS solution supports all Aclara AMI networks and, with the use of available adapter packages, a number of third-party AMR and AMI networks. The ability to connect third-party systems through adapters eases the transition from older technology to Aclara, and enables hybrid AMI solutions that achieve 100 percent service-area coverage seamlessly. Adapters for many popular CIS/billing applications reduce risk, implementation time, and cost for most deployments.

The iiDEAS solution supports current web browsers, and offers utility-customizable menus, dashboards, schedules, and validation, estimation, and editing (VEE) rules. The iiDEAS solution supports a dynamic, mobile workforce by offering text and email alerts via a flexible subscription system. Other powerful visual features include advanced charting, GIS integration (mapping), and one-click desktop integration.  Reports and graphs displayed in the browser are easily exported to desktop spreadsheets.

Aclara is demonstrating the iiDEAS solution in booth #1437 at DistribuTECH. The demo illustrates how efficiently one iiDEAS system handles a combination of meters on the TWACS® power-line communications network and meters operating on the Metrum Cellular™ network.  While such combinations often involve TWACS technology for residential metering and the Metrum Cellular system for commercial and industrial sites, the iiDEAS solution supports many other applications of this hybrid AMI concept, including demand response management systems (DRMS), outage management systems (OMS), conservation voltage regulation (CVR), and asset protection.
