GREENVILLE, S.C., July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ACL Airshop, a global leader in Custom ULD Solutions for airlines and cargo carriers, will host a celebratory Groundbreaking Event for its new Air Cargo products factory in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 15, 2018 at 10AM.
Why South Carolina? Placing this manufacturing facility in Greenville was a deliberate decision by Steve Townes, the CEO of ACL Airshop (and the inaugural Chairman of SC Aerospace, a statewide organization), to invest here in South Carolina. This legacy growth project further affirms to the world's aerospace industry that South Carolina is "Just Right" for aviation related growth investments.
Townes, also CEO and Founder of Ranger Aerospace, was the first CEO voice from industry to call for the Aviation High Schools initiatives in South Carolina. There are now six of those high schools in the state. He hopes the company might hire some of those students someday, adding "and we need more of those Aviation High Schools tethered to our SC Technical Colleges System."
ACL Airshop has been growing for 35 years. "This and many other worldwide growth investments and improvements will propel us to an even stronger future," said Townes. "Aviation's fastest growing region in the world is the Southeast USA, and ACL Airshop is at the center of its multi-state crossroads."
Ranger Aerospace has done similar expansions in some of its previous ventures since 1997, most notably the huge "Keystone HeliPlex" near Philadelphia, now one of the largest rotorcraft technical centers in the US.
ACL Airshop will be moving approximately 80 existing jobs into the new factory in Greenville in 2019, thus vacating its previous facility outside the county. The company predicts an additional 32 jobs, at least, will be added in the new facility over several years following occupancy.
The factory developer is Furman Development Company as part of its Park West industrial park. CBRE Commercial Realty is Ranger's real estate advisor, and the McNair law firm provided legal advice for the ACL Airshop factory. The general contractor is Harper Corporation. The unique design of this high-visibility landmark facility at the convergence point of Interstate Highways 85 and 185, was created by MCA Architecture.
The 60,000 sq. ft. facility will feature high-bay manufacturing spaces for air cargo nets, transportation straps, and other products. The factory will have modern offices and stylish common workspaces, all designed with a "lean" approach. Roughly 100,000 cars daily (in total, from all four directions) will pass by this facility at the four-way convergence of two major freeways.
ACL Airshop has become a leading worldwide one-stop-shop for leasing, sales, manufacturing, repairs, and fleet control logistics programs of Unit Load Devices ("ULDs") and cargo control products for the aviation and transport industries. Teamed with CORE Transport Technologies of New Zealand, the company is also rolling out CORE's patented Bluetooth® tracking technology for air cargo.
ACL Airshop will keeping expanding as part of its "Grow the Network" strategy. It operates around the world on six continents, at more than half of the world's Top 100 air cargo hub airports. ACL Airshop is investing for growth in each of its lines of business, turbo-charged by the e-commerce phenomenon, as it keeps pace with rising industry trends.
