Aching back? Proper adjustment of vehicle seat could help
Johnson Controls' new seating ergonomics video shows how to avoid back pain issues
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- According to recent statistics, approximately 60 to 80 percent of us will experience mild back pain at some point in our lives. There are many reasons for this, but one common factor, especially for those who spend significant time traveling in their vehicles, is incorrect sitting posture.
With summer vacation driving season right around the corner, the seating specialists from Johnson Controls, the leading manufacturer of automotive seating systems and components globally, has produced a new eight-step video that provides easy-to-understand tips to achieve the best ergonomic adjustment of a vehicle seat.
Recaro Automotive Seating, a product group of Johnson Controls, has created this new video for drivers who want to ergonomically optimize the individual setting of their car seats. It's available at www.recaro-automotive.com/us/videos or on YouTube at www.youtube.com/recaroautomotive.
"Correct seat adjustment and seating position of the driver and passenger is important in order to prevent or reduce back pain," said Eric Mitchell, executive vice president for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating. "In addition, with the right seating position, the risk of injury in a crash decreases, since the range of the airbags is optimized precisely to this position."
Some of the tips include:
- Legs should be slightly bent when reaching the pedals
- Headrest should be level with the top of your head
- Adjust seat length so it supports you to the back of the knees
