Achieve Beyond Pediatric Therapy Offers Exciting CEU Workshop in Virginia
FAIRFAX, Va., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Achieve Beyond Pediatric Therapy- http://www.achievebeyondusa.com - is pleased to announce it will be co-hosting a two day CEU workshop with Pyramid Educational Consultants, Inc. titled Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Level 1 Basic Training. This workshop will be held at the Comfort Inn University Center in Fairfax, VA on October 10th -11th 2013 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm both days. The training will offer 1.3 ASHA & 13.0 Type II BACB CEUs for Speech Language Pathologists and Board Certified Behavior Analysts that attend the training.
The PECS workshop is designed to teach participants the theory behind the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and the protocols for how to appropriately implement the six phases of PECS. The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) is used to rapidly teach communication skills to those with limited functional speech. Participants will learn how to implement the six phases of PECS, plus attributes, through presenter demonstrations, video examples and role-play opportunities. Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of how to implement PECS with individuals with autism, related developmental disabilities, and/or limited communication skills.
This PECS CEU workshop will be presented by Jamie Mwedel, M. Ed, CAGS. Jaime has served students with a variety of needs in inclusion, resource, and separate settings. She has worked as a school psychologist and was involved in co-chairing an Autism Team that provided assessment, trainings and consultations in a district of thirty-five schools. Jaime also has worked at a neuropsychological clinic in New Hampshire, where she evaluated students and provided consultation to families, schools, and other professionals.
