WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) today announced the election of four members to its Board of Directors during ACEP17 — Scientific Assembly, the organization's annual meeting in Washington, DC, which is the largest gathering of emergency physicians in the country. Board members are elected to serve 3-year terms.
The Board of Directors is the organization's policymaking body, responsible for ACEP's management and control, consisting of 12 elected directors, plus the president, president-elect, immediate past-president and chairman. Board members are elected at the annual ACEP Council meeting and can serve up to two 3-year terms.
RE-ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS
Stephen H. Anderson, MD, FACEP
Dr. Anderson, of Seattle, Wash., is an emergency physician at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center in Auburn, Wash. He also serves as director of the emergency medicine student and resident rotations program at Madigan Army Medical Center's, director of stroke services at Still University and chair of South King County MultiCare Health Foundation. Dr. Anderson was first elected to the Board in 2014. As Washington State's Chapter president, Dr. Anderson was the media point person for the state's recent Medicaid crisis – successfully fighting to protect the prudent layperson standard. Dr. Anderson earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan Emergency Department.
Jon Mark Hirshon, MD, PhD, MPH, FACEP
Dr. Hirshon, of Baltimore, Md., is an associate professor for the department of emergency medicine and department of epidemiology and public health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He was first elected to the Board in 2014. Dr. Hirshon is senior vice-chairman of the University of Maryland, Baltimore's Institutional Review Board and former director of the Charles "Mac" Mathias, Jr. National Study Center for Trauma and EMS. In addition, he has served as chairman of ACEP's Report Card on the State of Emergency Medicine, as well as ACEP's Education Committee, Public Policy Committee and the International Ambassador Program. He earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital University in Baltimore, Md.
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Alison Haddock, MD, FACEP
Dr. Haddock, of Houston, TX, is an assistant professor of emergency medicine and director of health policy and advocacy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She has been an active member promoting ACEP's advocacy efforts having served on the Federal Government Affairs Committee and serving as Chair of the National Emergency Medicine Political Action Committee (NEMPAC) Board. Dr. Haddock has been involved in the activities of three state ACEP Chapters and currently serves on the Board for the Texas College of Emergency Physicians. She also has served on the Board for the Emergency Medicine Residents Association, as well as ACEP's Education and Steering Committees. In addition, she is a member of ACEP's Young Physicians Section. Dr. Haddock earned her medical degree at Cornell Medical College in New York and completed her residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Aisha Liferidge, MD, MPH, FACEP
Dr. Liferidge, of Washington, DC, is an assistant professor for the department of emergency medicine and director of the emergency medicine health policy fellowship at The George Washington University (GWU) School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She also is an assistant professor at the department of health policy at the GWU's Milken Institute of Public Health. Dr. Liferidge has served as president of the District of Columbia Chapter of ACEP. She also serves on ACEP's Public Health and Injury Prevention, Clinical Emergency Data Registry and Steering Committees. In addition, she is chair of ACEP's Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. She earned her medical degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore.
