Acentia Chief Architect to be Panelist at Federal Big Data Summit
FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Acentia, a premier provider of technology and management solutions, announced today that the company's Chief Architect, Tom Woteki, PhD, will serve as an industry panelist at the Federal Big Data Summit: Solving Problems with Big Data. The event will take place June 19-20 in Washington, DC.
As part of the MITRE-AMARC Big Data Collaboration Symposium portion of the summit on June 19, Dr. Woteki will participate in a panel discussion (entitled, "Big Data in Healthcare") where industry and government experts will discuss some of the challenges of managing and analyzing the growing body of healthcare related data, including public use files released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Challenges include deciding what data to release, the objectives for releasing the data, protecting the privacy of both providers and patients and organizing the data so that it can be productively analyzed.
"We are extremely pleased to have been invited to participate in this important panel discussion," said Dr. Woteki. "As this discussion will show, there are significant opportunities to leverage public use healthcare data to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. In fact, Acentia is currently analyzing public use files recently released by CMS to better understand healthcare costs and resource utilization. Acentia is proud to be on the forefront of this issue, driving solutions forward for our customers."
The company is also an exhibitor at the event.
The Summit will feature a Big Data Technology Showcase demonstrating the latest technologies from leading IT innovators, and the MITRE Big Data Collaboration Sessions, where subject-matter experts from government and industry will collaborate on government data and business intelligence challenge areas.
In addition to "Big Data in Healthcare," topics will include: Big Data for Open Government, Transparency and Oversight; Big Data for Mission Support and Enabling Innovation; and Big Data Project Implementations, Challenges and Opportunities.
