LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ACE Cash Express stores in California donated $15,597 to Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles, an organization that helps individuals experiencing homelessness obtain employment and self-sufficiency through a unique program that first engages them in running.
"Not only did our employees raise over $15,000 for Back on My Feet, but they also teach financial literacy classes to members of the program," said Alex Katz, Region Vice President of ACE. "It's a full-circle partnership that we are very proud of."
Back on My Feet uses running to help those experiencing homelessness change the way they see themselves and build confidence to make changes in their lives. In addition to group runs, members of the program are offered courses about job readiness, interview skills and the ACE-created financial literacy curriculum.
"We're incredibly grateful for the support from corporate partners like ACE Cash Express," said Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles Executive Director David Walker. "ACE's holistic approach to supporting our work – through monetary contributions, community engagement and the provision of financial literacy classes for Back on My Feet Members – is critical to carrying out our mission and positively impacting the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Greater Los Angeles."
During ACE's annual Give a Little Campaign, a national in-store fundraiser, employees in California picked Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles to be the recipient of the money they raised. The fundraiser is providing more than $358,000 nationally to charities across the country and is a part of ACE's charitable-giving program, the ACE Community Fund. Since 2004, the ACE Community Fund has donated more than $8.5 million to impactful organizations that support children, provide education and promote financial literacy in the communities where ACE has stores.
