AccuWeather Launches First-of-its-Kind 45-Day Forecast
New forecast, offered free-of-charge, provides the public with information they need to plan outdoor activities from mid-summer into the fall
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Aug. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As the fall season quickly approaches, many Americans are finalizing their end-of-summer plans, whether plotting the perfect Labor Day road trip or finalizing details for an outdoor wedding or event. To help better prepare for these and other daydream-inducing activities, AccuWeather now offers a 45-Day Forecast that provides consumers with more advance notice of upcoming weather conditions than ever before.
The forecast, offered free-of-charge on Accuweather.com and the Accuweather.com mobile website, provides the public with all the comprehensive weather information they need to plan for events a month and a half in the future. By simply navigating to the extended forecast via the local weather tab on AccuWeather.com, users can instantly view detailed forecast information up to 45 days in advance including temperature, sky conditions, precipitation chance, UV index and more. This information keeps the public well abreast of weather events such as cold snaps or rain storms and helps to pinpoint the true start of a new season via its weather patterns.
"The more information travelers have about the weather, the better prepared they can be when they travel. It helps them plan, when they have an idea when to expect weather-related delays, what clothing to pack and whether they should plan to spend time at the beach or indoors," said Darlene Perrone, editor and publisher at Destinations Travel Magazine. "Being a photojournalist, it is so advantageous to be able to preview a month's weather in advance, because I can plan photo shoots around the forecast."
"The 45-Day Forecast is yet another way that AccuWeather is helping its customers plan for the special events in their lives through superior forecasting information," said Steven Smith, AccuWeather's Chief Digital Officer. "The forecast is the result of extensive scientific research and is backed by more than 110 meteorologists, providing the public with the Superior Accuracy™ they count on from AccuWeather."
Throughout its 50-year history, AccuWeather has consistently led the way in long-range forecasting. In the 1960s, AccuWeather introduced the five-day forecast when the National Weather Service was offering only a two-day forecast. In later years, AccuWeather became the first to introduce the 7-day, 10-day, 15-day, and 25-day forecasts. And in May 2013, AccuWeather announced the 30-day forecast, becoming the leading source for free 30-day forecasting information.
