Accomplished Real Estate Investor, Developer And Attorney Alan Schnurman Joins Hamptons-Based Saunders & Associates
Schnurman, who developed the two largest parcels in the Hamptons, will be a broker at the real estate firm's Bridgehampton office
BRIDGEHAMPTON, N.Y., June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- After 40 years as a prominent attorney, Alan Schnurman retired last year from his senior partner position at the personal injury and insurance law firm of Zalman & Schnurman to travel the world. While he spent time skiing in Aspen and even climbing Mount Everest, he felt a strong need to go back to work.
Instead of returning to law, he has decided to join independent Hamptons real estate firm Saunders & Associates, as a broker in their Bridgehampton office. Schnurman, 66, who lives in Bridgehampton, will hold the title of Senior Vice President.
Becoming a real estate broker makes perfect sense to Schnurman, who bought and successfully developed two of the largest parcels in Bridgehampton (26-acre Ocean Highlands) and Sagaponack (42-acre Sagaponack Greens).
"I have been passionate about real estate for the past three decades," he said, noting he has held a real estate broker's license for the past 10 years. Andrew Saunders, president of Saunders & Associates, said he has known Schnurman for years as a developer and attorney. "He's such an engaging man who probably knows more about real estate in the Hamptons than anyone else," Saunders said. "He could have picked anywhere to work, and I'm absolutely thrilled and honored that he chose Saunders & Associates."
Schnurman is frequently sought after by the press for interviews because of his knowledge and expertise in real estate and law. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Newsday, Associated Press, NY Daily News, NY Times, Real Estate Weekly and The Real Deal for real estate news stories. As an attorney, he has provided commentary on the Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, AP, Reuters, Inside Edition and local television and radio stations.
Schnurman has received numerous professional honors, including the "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by the Hon. Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the State of New York on behalf of the NYC Trial Lawyers Association. Alan was also the host of "Lawline," a PBS legal talk show he started in 1983 which still airs in the greater NY metro area and the east end. He is also the founder of Lawline.com, a leading provider of online continuing legal education courses for attorneys across the country. Lawline.com has provided more than one million courses since its inception in 1999.
Schnurman has lectured on real estate investing at New York University, New York School of Law, Green Pearle's Distressed Real Estate, just to name a few.
With the hiring of Schnurman, the number of brokers at Saunders has reached a total of 86. Between the firm's exponential growth in new hires and more than $1 billion in exclusive listings, Saunders has become a powerful player in its industry.
