Acclaimed Maine Chef Erin French Opens Her Lost Kitchen in Freedom
Unique Farm to Table Offerings Available Wednesday - Saturday
FREEDOM, Maine, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Serving her signature modern Maine farmhouse fare to a sell-out room of fans and followers, acclaimed Maine chef Erin French opened her Lost Kitchen restaurant on Friday, July 4th.. Formerly of Belfast, Maine, the restaurant is now located in a restored 1834 Maine grist mill on Freedom Falls in the historic farm town of Freedom.
Recognized by the James Beard Foundation for her innovative and authentic locally sourced organic cuisine, Erin's Lost Kitchen is serving dinners Wednesday through Saturday year round and anticipates adding Sunday brunch as well. She is now accepting reservations, which can be placed via phone 207-382-3333. Though it's currently BYO, Erin has also opened The Foundation Wine Cellar shop directly below the mill, where she is selling a carefully curated selection of international wines and beers, perfectly suited to pair with her restaurant menus.
"Growing up in Freedom with a basket in hand, barefoot on my family's 25 acre farm and then behind the grill at my dad's Ridgetop Diner, I discovered the simple pleasures of whole foods and the joy of cooking " comments Erin. "The Lost Kitchen is a chance to share my passion and my love of Maine, its terroir, its people and its singular bounty."
The Lost Kitchen can be found just off Route 137 at 22 Mill Street in Freedom, Maine, 04941 about half an hour from Augusta/Waterville and only 15 minutes from the town of Belfast on the coast.
Menu selections change daily but for July might include: skillet roasted Pemaquid mussels with rosemary, lavender & lime; chilled spinach & pea tendril soup with creme fraiche & rock crab; tea brined duck breast with puree of French lentils; arugula, fennel & strawberry panzanella; roasted halibut with forbidden rice, milkweed shoots, fennel & beet vinaigrette; local Maine cheese platters; frozen vanilla bean terrine with hazelnut brittle, organic strawberries and local honey.
