Acceller, Inc., was a sponsor for the 7th Annual People to Know event, hosted by The Chanda Plan Foundation.
MIAMI, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Acceller, Inc., was a Bronze Level sponsor for the 7th Annual People to Know event in Denver last month. The Chanda Plan Foundation, which hosted the event, is an entity whose goal is to improve the quality of life for those that are physically disabled. The foundation uses education and programs to access integrative therapies, including acupuncture, chiropractic care, cranial-sacral therapy and adaptive yoga.

The keynote speaker for the event was Aron Ralston, who wrote the autobiography, "Between a Rock and a Hard Place," detailing his five-day ordeal in a Utah canyon after an 800-lb. boulder crushed and pinned his right arm. The story of his survival was also the subject of the Oscar-nominated film, "127 Hours," starring James Franco.
Acceller, a marketing and technology firm in the digital lifestyle industry, continued their tradition of showing corporate social responsibility, by assisting foundations and organizations like the Chanda Plan Foundation spread the word about their cause. By supporting the event as a Bronze Level sponsor, Acceller helps the foundation reach an even larger audience.
"Organizations like The Chanda Plan Foundation do so much good for so many people," said Suzanne Ferguson, Acceller's Vice President of Legal Affairs. "It's imperative that companies like Acceller develop corporate responsibility initiatives that will help worthwhile organizations deliver services to people who otherwise would not have the opportunity, as well as drive awareness in the corporate community."
Chanda Hinton suffered a spinal cord injury when she was accidentally shot at 9 years old. She has spent most of her life as a quadriplegic, learning to adapt by treating her condition with Western medicine and practices. She was introduced to integrative therapies when she was 21, and it changed her life, and her focus has turned to helping others with disabilities by offering access to these types of therapies, like yoga, physical therapy and massage.
Ralston's story is one that everyone has been able to draw inspiration from, especially those with physical disabilities, from the play on words in the title of his book, to the double-meaning behind how he had to climb over mountainous obstacles in order to save his own life.
