ACC Welcomes President's Manufacturing Initiative
Dow CEO Picked to Help Lead Effort to Foster Technology Development and Job Creation
WASHINGTON, June 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Chemistry Council President and CEO Cal Dooley issued the following statement in response to the announcement of President Obama's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership:
"America's chemistry industry welcomes President Obama's initiative to maintain our nation's leadership in bringing transformative technologies and products to the world. American chemistry is the source of nearly every manufacturing breakthrough – from nanotechnology, advanced materials, robotics, genomics and energy efficiency – that has helped make life healthier, safer and more sustainable. We are pleased that President Obama has recognized the essential role that chemical manufacturers will play in fulfilling his vision by naming Andrew Liveris, Chairman, President and CEO of Dow Chemical, to lead this important effort.
"In particular, we are encouraged by the President's focus on industrial energy efficiency and the effort to move advanced materials to market more quickly - a goal that will only be possible if we have an updated, sound and efficient federal chemical regulatory system in place. We look forward to working with the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership to ensure America remains the world's leader in developing the technologies and in manufacturing the products that will transform our lives and our economy."
