"The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the individual mandate has removed a great uncertainty in the health care marketplace. The Academy will closely evaluate other aspects of the ruling and will work in a bipartisan manner with lawmakers to suggest any needed technical enhancements in the law going forward.
In the meantime, the Academy is eager to continue working with its more than 6,500 members to help them implement the 2010 health care reforms successfully and on schedule.
There are many provisions in the reform package through which managed care pharmacy can help achieve positive health outcomes for patients and assist in controlling the escalating costs of health care in the U.S. These include using scientific research to evaluate outcomes of various treatment options and developing a pathway to bring follow-on biological treatments to market.
The Academy is dedicated to improving the health and well being of millions of Americans through sound medication management."
