Eichenbrenner brings to AMCP more than a decade of experience as a successful leader of nonprofit membership organizations. She served most recently as Vice President for Advancement at the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and as Director of the ASN Foundation. In these roles she led the 5,000-member organization's fundraising, public affairs, marketing, communications and membership efforts.
As head of the ASN Foundation, Eichenbrenner fostered a five-fold increase in donations and created new opportunities for donors, with designated funds and planned giving. She also instituted six endowments, designed to permanently support programs such as a postdoctoral research competition and a cancer prevention scholarship. In addition, she restructured ASN's annual partnerships model, enrolling 30 companies. As vice president for advancement, she directed ASN's media outreach and government relations while nearly doubling the membership.
Prior to her tenure at ASN, Eichenbrenner served as marketing and membership services director for the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing; there her membership recruitment and retention initiatives resulted in 30 percent growth. She earned her bachelor of arts cum laude in Russian and Spanish from Tulane University in New Orleans, La. and is currently pursuing a master of business administration from Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business in Falls Church, Va.
Eichenbrenner joins the AMCP Foundation as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
"Paula's outstanding skills and experience, as well as deep knowledge of the nonprofit association world, make her the ideal person to lead the Foundation into the next 25 years," says AMCP CEO Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM, Chairman of the AMCP Foundation Board of Trustees. "Her leadership efforts will be crucial as we move aggressively to further increase the Foundation's research and educational activities. We're delighted to have her onboard."
Eichenbrenner noted, "I am deeply honored to take the reins during this exciting time for AMCP and its Foundation. My first order of business is to continue the celebration of the Foundation's anniversary, including a successful completion of the Key to Our Success capital campaign. The AMCP Foundation has contributed significantly to the managed care pharmacy field. I look forward to working with AMCP members, Foundation partners and the health care community to further boost our impact and profile."
Among the AMCP Foundation's research accomplishments are helping to establish evidence-based formulary decision-making processes; enhancing pharmacy literacy to improve adherence and persistency; and conducting research (such as last year's highly influential report "Ahead of the Curve: Emerging Trends"). The Foundation's educational mission over the years has introduced hundreds of student pharmacists to the profession of managed care pharmacy through the nationally recognized P&T Competition and student internship programs.
