Academy of Insurance Announces Free Micro-Videos for Insurance Educators
Free "Building Blocks" provide micro-videos for insurance educators to use in their training programs and learning management systems.
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Insurance Journal's Academy of Insurance invests in a new video-based learning solution. The next step in fulfilling its mission as a premier insurance education partner to the insurance industry is to make micro-video available at no cost to insurance professionals, using its new Building Blocks tool.
The Building Blocks tool makes professionally created micro-videos available for teams that already have their own learning management systems (LMS). "Users can take our videos and use them to create or supplement their custom learning sessions. We get to interview the leading executives and thinkers in the insurance industry and you get to use their wisdom in your learning," said Patrick Wraight, Academy Director.
Video is a popular, and effective, tool for creating engaging learning. However, learners don't want just any video. Those that will use video should keep these tips in mind.
- Your video doesn't need to be professionally created, but it does need to be high quality.
- Not all video is helpful. You need a timely topic, a surprising story, a compelling character, or any combination of the three to have a helpful video.
- More isn't necessarily better. You don't need a lot of video or a long video. You only need enough to tell your story, explain your topic, or introduce your character.
- Videos have an expiration date. Video content is not evergreen, so you will have to replace it eventually.
Academy of Insurance is rolling out this new tool to help insurance organizations complement and enhance their training programs. "Insurance Journal is producing new interviews with industry personalities every week. Building Blocks packages clips from these videos and gives educators fresh perspectives they can mix into their training," said Wraight. The Building Block videos will be updated periodically as they are created by the team at Insurance Journal.
Many insurance organizations want to add video to their training, but it's expensive and time-consuming to create. "The insurance industry is in constant state of change. With Building Blocks we're providing timely ideas and views from industry leaders and innovators," said Wraight.
Building Blocks will be free to insurance organizations.
