WASHINGTON, April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Timed to Equal Pay Day, Academy Award winner and pay equity advocate Patricia Arquette, joined by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), a ranking member of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, will address a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference, Tues., April 12, at 10 a.m., in the National Press Club's West Room. Maloney and Arquette will discuss findings of a report to be released the same day, Gender Pay Inequality -- Consequences for Women, Families, and the Economy that includes a state-by-state ranking of the gender pay gap along with a detailed analysis of the income inequality faced by women in their paychecks and over a lifetime.
Rep. Maloney, first elected to Congress in 1992, is the senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and the ranking House member of the Joint Economic Committee. She is the lead sponsor of the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Arquette is best known for her Oscar award winning performance in the film "Boyhood", the critically acclaimed 12-year project by Richard Linklater for which she won the 2015 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Upon receiving the award, she made a strong statement about the challenges and pay discrepancies women face in the workforce. She currently appears as Special Agent Avery Ryan on the CBS show CSI: Cyber.
