Academic Scholarships Awarded to Empower Volunteers
Serve It Forward Program Awards 10 Collegiate Scholarships to HandsOn Network Volunteers
ATLANTA, Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HandsOn Network volunteers had an unprecedented opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program on full scholarship, thanks to an educational partnership between HandsOn Network and University of Phoenix.
The Serve It Forward scholarship program awards full-tuition scholarships to empower individual volunteers to achieve their educational goals and career aspirations, including the further development of their leadership and service abilities. Serve It Forward is part of University of Phoenix's ongoing commitment to provide access to educational opportunities and help promote quality leaders. Scholarships are awarded in partnership with HandsOn Network to volunteers to start and complete an undergraduate or master's degree program of choice.

The competitive scholarships are open to volunteers and staff of HandsOn Network membership programs including HandsOn Action Centers, business members, nonprofit and government members, HandsOn Corps and volunteers participating in the Get HandsOn Challenge. Applicants must have performed at least 36 hours of verifiable volunteer work in 2010 and must continue to do so during their scholarship years and must meet all University of Phoenix admission requirements.
The Serve It Forward program provides scholarships covering full tuition and fees. Recipients may attend any University of Phoenix local campus or the University of Phoenix online. The scholarships are part of the university's commitment to help develop leaders in local communities.
