Academic Partnerships Now Accepting Proposals for Round Two of 2014 Faculty Research Grant Program
DALLAS, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Academic Partnerships (AP), one of the world's largest representatives of online learning, today announced that it is currently accepting proposals for Round Two of its 2014 Faculty Research Grant Program, which supports faculty research on the impact and effectiveness of online learning. Proposals are being accepted through October 3, 2014.
"Academic Partnerships is committed to supporting research that broadens the scholarship on the effectiveness of online learning," said Vice President of Academic Services Dr. Melissa Kaulbach. "Though still an emerging field of academic inquiry, online learning has been gaining substantial importance in higher education, and we are pleased to support the advancement of its understanding through our Faculty Research Grant Program."
The program, which has committed to providing $100,000 in funding in 2014, offers faculty or staff members of institutions working with AP-supported programs the opportunity to apply for a grant to fund research that could increase understanding about the power of online learning. Priority funding for longitudinal research will be provided in recognition of proposals in the following areas:
- Retention: Effective strategies, time to completion, persistence, demographics, number of starts per year, length of program, cohort data, etc.
- Student engagement as related to retention: Identification of trends and indicators, cohort vs. non- cohort models, etc.
- Assessment of adult learning in the online learning environment: Cohort vs. non-cohort, comparative analysis between cohorts, etc.
The application can be accessed by clicking here.
Awardees will be informed of their selection in writing by November 7, 2014 and announced on Faculty eCommons, an AP-sponsored site supporting online faculty around the world, shortly thereafter. Funds will be disseminated over the duration of the project and will be paid to the institution's grant or equivalent office.
The second round of the program will commence this summer.
