RESTON, Va., March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ACADEMI, an elite security services provider to both government and commercial clients, contributed $10,000 to the Panjshir Emergency Committee, led by the Panjshir Civil Society, to aid the victims of the recent avalanches that devastated Afghanistan's Panjshir Valley. Media reports place the death toll at nearly 200 from a series of February avalanches that buried entire villages in the remote province 60 miles northeast of Kabul.
ACADEMI has provided training, security and advisory services in Afghanistan for many years and remains dedicated to supporting the local Afghan communities. "ACADEMI is committed to the safety and well-being of the Afghan people, and we are happy to provide whatever help we can to assuage the damage done by these avalanches," said ACADEMI President Chris Sorenson.
The funds will be used to help families whose homes and districts have been destroyed by the snow and flooding. Support and other donations can be provided to the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
