SEATTLE, July 21, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During ACA International's 2017 Convention & Expo, the association's Education Foundation announced winners of the Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship Program which recognizes individuals employed by or affiliated with the collection industry. This year, a total of $30,000 in college scholarships was presented to 15 students. Winners were selected based on their cumulative grade point average and a two- to three-page essay on "the value of consumer credit to our nation's economy."
"The Loomer-Mortenson Scholarship Program has been helping ACA member company employees and their families further their education for more than 30 years, and we are proud to continue the tradition with these 15 talented individuals," said Jim Richards, chair of the ACA International Education Foundation board.
The top prize—a $10,000 scholarship—was awarded to Adam Tremble, a compliance manager at Ad Astra Recovery Services Inc. in Wichita, Kan. Tremble is a pre-law student at Wichita State University.
Joseph Possumato, who received a $5,000 scholarship, is the son of an employee at Certified Credit & Collection Bureau in Somerville, N.J. He plans to study economics at the College of William & Mary.
Julianne Ericson, winner of a $3,000 scholarship, is the daughter of an employee at Immediate Credit Recovery Inc. in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. She intends to study accounting and business administration at the University of New Hampshire.
The foundation also awarded 12 scholarships of $1,000 each to:

- Kimberly Baich: Southeast Missouri State University
- Daniella Caraveo: Louisiana State University
- Spencer Cope: Lincoln Technical Institute
- Jakob Ernst: Arizona State University
- Joscelyn Ferguson: Erie Community College
- Shaunta Holmes: ECPI Online University
- Jessica Hopkinson: Auburn University
- Kate Leonard: Radford University
- Kate Peterson: University of Minnesota
- Matthew Rozga: The University of Maryland College Park
- Megan Trafford: SUNY Oneonta
