BERLIN, N.J., Oct. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading arts and craft retailer, A.C. Moore has launched a new teacher grant program in partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation (KINF), awarding $25,000 in teacher grants to help fund hands-on activities that incorporate arts and crafts into everyday classroom curriculum.
"Teachers play an integral role in shaping the lives of our future generation. A.C. Moore values and appreciates educators everywhere who are 'Crafting a Better World' for their students," said CEO Pepe Piperno. "We see this grant program as a small way to help teachers bring more arts and crafts into the classroom and to continue inspiring students to be creative. We look forward to continued partnership with KINF as we join them to celebrate teachers and their everyday accomplishments."
Teachers are encouraged to create a classroom project that incorporates art with science, math, social studies or language arts. Contingent on innovation and creativity, 250 teachers will each be awarded a $100 A.C. Moore gift card to execute their project.
Over the last two decades, the Kids In Need Foundation's Teacher Grant Program has awarded nearly $2 million to teachers across the country to help cover the cost of classroom projects that are not traditionally funded by schools and ultimately come out of the teachers' own pocket.
"Teachers have the amazing ability to create true experiences for students within their classrooms. Given the right materials, their imaginations can provide endless opportunities for their students," said Dave Smith, executive director, The Kids In Need Foundation. "We are thankful for our partnership with A.C. Moore, and their dedication to ensure we are providing the materials needed to ensure students nationwide can thrive."
The A.C. Moore grant application will be open from October 15, 2016 until January 5, 2017. Teachers who are awarded the grant will implement their projects during the 2017 school year. Teachers interested in applying to the grant can do so by visiting www.KINF.org/acmoore.
