ABTCP to Hold 44th Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition in Partnership with German Association
The new feature this year will be the 1st Latin American Symposium on Paper for Packaging
SAO PAULO, April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The largest event for the Latin American pulp and paper industry, the ABTCP 2011 – 44th Pulp and Paper International Congress and Exhibition will be held on October 3rd through 5th at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, and is expected to bring together more than 160 exhibitors.
The event, hosted by the Brazilian Technical Association for Pulp and Paper (ABTCP), is supported by the partnership of the German industry association ZELLCHEMING (Association of Chemists and Engineers of Chemical Pulp and Paper), the oldest technical scientific association in this field in the entire world.
Due to the great success of the 1st Tissue Symposium in 2010, this year the ABTCP will be organizing the 1st Latin American Packing Paper Symposium, which will take place in parallel with the 2011 Congress and Exhibition. The Symposium will address issues such as the production chain for packaging paper, raw materials, technological innovations, product quality, sustainability of the industry, development of packaging, normative issues, final use and reverse logistics.
The Congress, on the other hand, which is focusing on the Competitiveness of the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Industry, will have seven technical sessions on the following subjects: automation and process control; pulp; engineering and maintenance; forestry; environment; paper; recovery and utilities.
"Brazil has already consolidated its position among the leaders of the pulp market, and the challenge now is to expand production capacity and the competitiveness of Brazilian paper, which still faces innumerable obstacles, such as excessive taxation and difficulties with regard to the oversight of tax exempt paper," notes ABTCP president, Lairton Leonardi.
ABTCP 2011 is the main gathering of leaders, academics, researchers, consultants, professionals and specialists throughout the chain of production and services of the pulp and paper industry. Last year the event brought together 167 exhibitors and attracted 12 thousand visitors.
