Abt Associates Health Systems Expert Named Minister of Health in Peru
BETHESDA, Md., July 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Midori de Habich, a senior health systems expert at Abt Associates, has been named Minister of Health in Peru. While at Abt Associates, Midori led several health policy reform and health systems strengthening projects funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve the public health system in Peru.

A social scientist with more than 25 years of experience in health systems research and policy design, de Habich effectively built lasting relationships with public leaders and top managers at the national, regional and local levels, as well as with political parties, USAID partners and members of the broader donor community. Her ability to build consensus and partnerships allowed her and her team to develop stronger financing and management systems within the Peruvian health sector, most recently under USAID's Health Policy Reform program.
She holds a Master's in Economic Policy and Planning from the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands and Bachelor's in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Del Peru, Lima, Peru.
