Absentee Votes Extend and Secure Craig Huey's Place in the Run-Off Election - Shocking the Political Establishment
TORRANCE, Calif., May 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The official Registrar of Voters has reported that Craig Huey's lead in the race for California's 36th Congressional District seat has increased. Official totals show 24.62% of votes for Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, 22.24% of votes for small business owner Craig Huey and 21.05% of votes for California Secretary of State Debra Bowen.
While the political consensus was that the powerful Democratic Secretary of State and City Councilwoman were in a lock for the run-off, Craig Huey's message of fiscal responsibility reverberated with Democrats, Independents and Republicans.
"Voters are rejecting career politicians controlled by special interest groups," said Mr. Huey. "They want fresh ideas."
These ideas include:
- Stopping the out of control government spending
- Stopping the $1.6 trillion deficit and $14.3 trillion national debt
- Creating new jobs in the private sector
- Stopping the rising prices created by bad government policy
"I am very thankful and deeply honored by the results," Huey concluded. "This district does not belong to any one party or political machine. It belongs to the people, and they are responding to our message of fiscal sanity and more jobs."
