SAN DIEGO, March 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Bioscience Financial Officers (ABFO), a national networking group for biotechnology, MedTech and bioscience financial officers, is gearing up for the 2020 ABFO National Conference to be held on May 19-22, 2020, at the Omni Hotel, San Diego. This year the conference theme is "2020: Seeing Biotech From All Sides". Now in its 31st year, the conference will highlight several presentations from high-profile speakers, roundtable discussions covering a range of topics in line with the conference theme and a series of small-group break-out sessions designed to equip attendees with practical information relevant to their daily roles in finance. The primary goal of the ABFO National Conference is to allow like-minded bioscience professionals to network, connect and share helpful nuggets of information. Additionally, all participating Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) can earn up to 16 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credits by participating in the meeting activities.
Headlining the conference as keynote speakers are:
- John Whyte, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer, WebMD

Conference co-chairs Vickie Reed, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Mirati Therapeutics and Betsy Gelfand, Senior Director, Finance and Accounting at Tocagen Inc. both agree that the 31st conference will provide networking opportunities and connect leaders in the bioscience community. "As a national bioscience center, San Diego is a natural location to host our annual conference. Attendees from all over North America will benefit from our many keynote presentations, panels and roundtables focused on viewing the business of biotech from a multidirectional perspective," said Reed. "We are looking forward to being able to connect, update and share notes on our stories, whether successful or otherwise. The annual conference is a truly transformative, three-day event where relationships are forged, ideas are conceived and business goals are achieved, which is why a large percentage of our folks attend year after year. Our unique ABFO environment simply can't be replicated elsewhere."
Attendees should also note that the ABFO Annual Conference is being held ahead of the Memorial Day weekend; planning an extended stay would allow them to enjoy the southern California sun over the long weekend.
Panel presentations, roundtable discussions, and evening social events offer a perfect blend of engaging conversations that provide key strategies and tactics and the opportunity to share experiences and network amongst industry experts. Click here to see the complete conference program.
