ABC Financial Extends Aid to Local Tornado Victims
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ABC Financial (ABC) adopted two local families who lost everything in a tornado that swept Central Arkansas in the Spring of 2014.
On April 27, 2014, a tornado moved through Pulaski and Faulkner County, Arkansas destroying the towns of Mayflower and Vilonia. Many employees of ABC Financial have family, friends and neighbors who experienced damage and in some situations, death. The employees pulled together and took-up a collection of immediately needed supplies to assist in clean-up and baby items for the areas. Several volunteered their personal time to help locals gather any salvageable personal items. In May, it was decided to take nominations and adopt two families who were rebuilding their lives. Of the two families chosen, one family has 4 children at home ranging from 8-18 who recently lost their father. The other family chosen has 5 children at home ranging from 13-19 along with their grandfather. The families were asked to register for household and personal items to assist in rebuilding their homes.
The following weeks, employees purchased registered items and donated money for the families. ABC Financial matched the employee's contributions dollar for dollar. Over the past week, ABC hosted both families at the corporate campus to present them with the gifted items. "I am so proud and humbled by the outpouring of support our employees have shown to these families," said Paul Schaller, president of ABC Financial. "Their stories of great loss hit many of us close to home. It is easy to see why this cause was so important to our corporate family."
