ABBOTT PARK, Ill., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Abbott (NYSE: ABT) announced today that it has been named one of the Top 10 companies for diversity in a new survey conducted by Calvert Group. The survey reviewed the diversity programs, policies and performance of all companies in the Standard & Poor's 100 Index (S&P 100). Abbott received a score of 90 out of 100, which was significantly higher than the average scores of 72 for its industry sector and 68.5 for all S&P 100 companies.
In addition to being included on the Calvert survey, Abbott was named to DiversityInc magazine's 2010 list of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity, and to Hispanic Business magazine's Diversity Elite 60 Top Companies for Hispanics earlier in 2010. It was the seventh year Abbott has been included on the DiversityInc list, and the fourth year the company has been included on the Hispanic Business list. The company also was recently named one of the 100 Best Companies by Working Mother magazine; it was the tenth consecutive year the company has been included on the list.

"We view our diversity as a tremendous asset for our innovation-driven businesses, and continue to focus on building an inclusive culture that values and leverages people's differences to provide Abbott with a competitive advantage."
