ABA Launches New Consumer Site to Kick Off National Financial Capability Month
WASHINGTON, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To kick off National Financial Capability Month in April, the American Bankers Association today launched its new comprehensive consumer resource – ABA.com/Consumers – which features personal finance tools and information on issues like mortgages, credit cards, protecting your identity and saving for college. The new site, which features streamlined navigation that makes finding consumer information quick and easy, is a key element of ABA's continued initiative to help consumers make knowledgeable financial decisions.
"National Financial Capability Month is a time to rededicate ourselves to advancing consumer education and to helping every individual take control of their financial future," said Frank Keating, ABA president and CEO. "This site makes it easy for consumers to find critical information that can help them make sound financial decisions."
The new site includes ABA's abundant consumer-facing resources and helpful information from government institutions grouped into categories that include Housing How-to's, Protect Your Money, Kids & Money and Manage Your Money. It also prominently features interactive calculators, which help users make informed decisions on topics like "Should I rent or buy?", "How much car can I afford?", and "How much do I need to save for college?"
"We're excited about this resource and the potential it has to help the many Americans who are looking for guidance on their everyday financial concerns as well as decisions that affect their long-term financial health," said Keating.
This resource is the latest ABA initiative to help families stay informed, keep their money safe and achieve their financial goals. ABA's Teach Children to Save and Get Smart About Credit programs help America's youth learn about saving for the future and using credit wisely. Teach Children to Save Day is approaching on April 11. ABA also educates consumers through resources and activities surrounding American Housing Month (June) and National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October).
